Growing up, I visited my grandparents, Joe and Betty Carroll, and always took the time to go across the alley to visit with Aunt Doris. As one of the older grandkids, I remember going out and helping in the pumpkin patch, riding horses, and the great watermelons in the back of Willard's truck. Most of all, I remember stopping by the back door, and chatting at the kitchen table, or out on the back porch. No matter what she was

The world has lost a beautiful person.

I was in the second grade when I moved to Maple Street and remember everyone was welcome at the McIntosh house. Even after I moved away I came and spent a couple of summers with them. I specifically remember the summer of 1977 when Doris said "I hope you don't mind that we signed you up to detassel corn". My was that n experience.

Tina was right, when Willard had a load of watermelons

"Aunt Doris" was what we called her. I was 2 when we moved into the neighborhood. Believe it or not, I do remember when they lived down at the end of our alley.

I have nothing but fond memories, Doris was always there for all of us Caroll kids. If we couldn't find Mom, we went to Doris.

When My Dad was dying, and we were all out at the Hiospital, Mom called Doris and she was there with us.

I will

I had just finished first grade when we moved in down the alley from Willard and Doris. Cathy was just a baby, I think she started walking that summer.
Between Doris, our Mom and Marilyn Jesson it was a safe neighborhood to grow up in.
Doris was a good wife, a good mom and "aunt Doris" to most of the other kids in the neighborhood, especially the Carroll kids.
Thank you Doris for being a good neighbor and a very good friend to our mom right up to the end.
You are loved, and you are missed.
Tell Mom and Dad and Willard 'Hi!'

Even though we have know this day was coming, it is never easy to lose such a dear friend. Doris was such a great friend to my whole family...we considered her family, she was always Aunt Doris to the Carroll kids. My memories of growing up across the alley center on how welcome you always were in her home...she always had something to share, whether it was a smile, a cup of tea or a story. She was always so

So sorry to hear of Doris' passing. I was acquainted with Doris and Willard through trucking. In the 1970's I was with a shipper in Shenandoah, Iowa and Doris and Willard were the best. We dealt with hundreds of trucking companies but Doris and Willard were always on the top of our list. They were always dependable and Doris was a great dispatcher. I enjoyed talking to Doris and being around Willard. So sorry for your loss.
