Dorie Latham, 76, of Creston, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of Highway 25 & 34 in Creston. Rev. Tom Woodin will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.
Open visitation will be from 3 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be given at www.powersfh.com.
Deloris "Dorie" Louise (Miller) Latham, daughter of Ida Louise (Madison) Miller and Edward Henry Miller, was born April 19, 1936 in Gregory, S.D. She was educated in Malvern schools and later Arispe schools.
On June 28, 1953, Dorie married John Gale Latham in Afton. They first lived in Arispe and then south of Afton. They settled in Creston in 1957, where in addition to being a homemaker, Dorie worked for Places for 17 years and then for her brother, Don Miller at Creston Mobile Homes for about 15 years. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Creston.
Survivors include her husband John Latham of Creston; three sons, Gerry (wife Frances) Latham of Crossville, Tenn., Larry (wife Nancy) Latham of Creston and Terry (wife Diane) Latham of Laurens; nine grandchildren, Gerry (wife Gina) Latham, Jr., Dustin (wife Jennifer) Latham, Eddie Mackey, Linda Hensley, Brenda Latham, Tonya (husband Todd) Pickering, Cory (wife Tammi) Latham, Staci (fiance Tim Rourke) Latham and Brett (wife Laura) Latham; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Earl Latham of Murray; one sister-in-law, Joyce (husband Richard) Ross of Creston.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donald and Dwight "Dyke" Miller, and four sisters-in-law, Norma (husband Francis) Sweet, Joyce Latham. Joann Miller and Barbara Miller.
