Joseph LaMasters, 42 of Creston, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 in rural Sumner County, Kansas.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 & 25 in Creston. Father Ken Halbur will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
Open visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 10, with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to be directed to his children Haylee Sue and Kylee Jo LaMasters. Online condolences may be given at www.powersfh.com.
Joseph Lee "Joe" LaMasters was born June 4, 1970 in Creston, Ia., to Dennis Lee LaMasters and Pamela Suzanne "Susie" (McKee) LaMasters. Joe attended Creston Community Schools and graduated from Midland Park High School in Eldora, Ia. in 1988. After graduating, Joe lived all of his adult life in Creston working Construction. Joe had a deep love for his family. He spent many years coaching Youth Softball, a passion that he and his daughters both shared all together. Haylee and Kylee were his pride and joy. Joe was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by his spouse of 26 years Tonya Brown, daughters, Haylee Sue LaMasters and Kylee Jo LaMasters, all of Creston; his parents Denny and Susie LaMasters of Creston; one brother Curtis (wife Jessica) LaMasters, niece Kacy LaMasters, all of Omaha, Neb.; his sister Megan (husband Jarad) Decker, nephew Colton Decker, all of Creston; mother-in-law Jane E. Brown of Creston; sister-in-law Tammy Hansen of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law Tim (wife Darlene) Brown, nephew Trevor Brown, all of Glenwood, IA.; niece Allissa Brown of Omaha, Neb.; brother-in-law Todd (wife Joni) Brown, nephew Nick Brown, niece Shandi Brown, all of Creston; brother-in-law Chris (wife Annette) Brown, niece Megan Brown, nephew Ryan Brown, all of Creston; sister-in-law Shannon (husband Mannie) Shepherd, nephew Jesse Shepherd, niece Konnar Shepherd, all of Creston; brother-in-law Nathan Brown and niece Makenna Brown, both of Creston, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents Mike and Mae (Stanfield) LaMasters, LeRoy and Mary (Lomicka) McKee, his aunts Gloria (LaMasters) Palmitier and Sheryl (LaMasters) Schwartz, and his father-in-law Otis Burdette Brown.
