Robert Conard, 81, of Creston, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Delores Doench will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be during a lunch after the service, at the funeral home. Memorials are to be established. Robert Dean Conard, was born August 20, 1931 in Douglas, Wyoming, to Glenn James Conard and Mary Margaret (Carns) Conard. He graduated from Shannon City High School in 1949.
On December 3, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Marilynn Jean Emerson at the Methodist Church in Ankeny, Iowa. They settled in the Shannon City area. Bob farmed in the Creston area and in 1965 he purchased a farm south of Creston. Bob worked for Hills McCanna/Wellmans for 28 years, retiring as supervisor for quality control. Bob and Marilynn bowled in doubles league. He was a member in Platte Center Presbyterian Church and the Elks Lodge, both of Creston.
Survivors are his wife, Marilynn of Creston; a son, Jim (wife Lesa) Conard of Diagonal; a daughter, Cindy (husband Chris) Mehaffy of Burlington; a sister, Linda Roeder of Davenport; six grandchildren, JD Conard, Randi Conard, Bo (husband Brady) Geidel, Chevonne Mehaffy, Lucas (wife Sarah) Mehaffy, Noah ((wife Alisha) Mehaffy and Ryan Conard; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other, nieces, nephews and other family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Rick and two grandchildren, Ravinne and Robert Conard.
