Rosetta "Rosie" Welcher, 81, of Creston; formerly of Afton, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at the Creston Nursing and Rehab. in Creston. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday February 24, 2012 at Powers Funeral Home 612 N. Dodge in Afton. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Interment will be at the Murray Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials are to be established. Online condolences can be left at www.powersfh.com.
Rosetta J. Welcher was born March 4, 1930 near Thayer, Iowa to Minnie Dora (Fivecoat) Welcher and Clarence Addison Welcher. She attended the Afton Community Schools. She lived in numerous care centers in Iowa beginning in the 1960's. She moved to Creston Nursing and Rehab in April 2011.
Survivors include her two sisters: Jean Williamson of Creston and Jerri Ray of Orient; two brothers: Terry Welcher of Boone and Rory Welcher of Elkhart, Ia.; three sisters-in-law, Naomi Welcher of Thayer, Beulah Welcher of Lockridge, Ia. and GeeGee Kay Welcher of Overland Park, Kan. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her four brothers Jimmie Rex, Alvin, Delbert and Raymond Welcher a sister Evelyn Williams and four brothers-in-law Donald Ray, John Williamson, Ed Williams and Kenneth Ball.
