Virginia Fogle, 85, of Creston, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.
A sharing time will be 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highways 25 and 34 in Creston. Rev. Delores Doench will officiate.
Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Virginia has donated her body for medical research. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Care Initiatives Hospice. Online condolences may be made under the obituary category at www.powersfh.com.
Virginia Mae (Evans) Fogle was born November 13, 1926 in Griswold, Iowa to Verna Viola (Apt) Evans and Arlie Edward Evans, Sr. Virginia graduated as Valedictorian from Creston High School in 1944. Following graduation, Virginia was chosen to be the private secretary of the manager of a fruit and vegetable distributing company, where she worked for two years. On August 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Fogle in the Christian Church in Creston. They lived the first part of their life together in Kent and then Cromwell. Virginia was an Avon Representative from 1960-1976 and worked as Postmaster in the Kent and Cromwell post offices from 1976-1990, retiring in 1990. Virginia and Ken were married 58 years, before Ken's death in 2003. Virginia moved to Creston in 2008. She was a member of the Cromwell United Church of Christ, where she was treasurer for 17 years and also served on the Memorial Committee. Virginia was also a member of the National League of Postmasters, the Old Tyme Power Group and was involved in numerous other church organizations.
Survivors include four sons, Tom (wife Donna) Fogle of Wickenburg, Ariz., Gary (wife Donna) Fogle of Waterloo, Iowa, Ron (wife Donna) Fogle of Glendale, Ariz., Dan (wife Vicki) Fogle of Creston, 13 grandchildren, Denise (husband Scott) Black, Greg Fogle, Wendy (husband Bruce) Sticken, Kathy Shea, Diane Wilson, Debbie (husband Tim) Westergreen, Mike (wife Cathy) Diehl, Tina (husband Fred) Marquez, Tara (husband Mike) Fogle-Weber, Tessa (husband Angel) Marquez, Tony (signif. other Rachel) Fogle, Craig (wife Audrey) Fogle and Steven (signif. other Kevin) Fogle; 19 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jean Hogue of Exeter, Calif. and Judy (husband Bud) Gibson of Waterloo; one brother, Ed Evans of Exeter, Calif. and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, two brothers Charles and John Evans and one brother in-law, Merlin Fogle.
